My god,
nowadays summer in INDIA is unbearable. Months of July to September is
considered as hottest days you can imagine in India. To make this summer we all
need a summer drink which can perform cool hydration and a rejuvenating
effect in our body.
All
we need in a summer drink is that it should be cold, the very first priority
and second, it should energize our body. You can expect taste, flavors and things
you like to be in your summer drinks.
HERE ARE 10 SUMMER
DRINKS YOU CAN TRY AT YOUR HOME
1.
ROOH-AFZA: As the name
suggests 'Rooh', meaning soul here and 'afza' means empowering. So basically
rooh-afza means soul empowering juice. Yes, truly it is really a soul empowering
juice. You can find a bottle of rooh-afza in every house in India. In the summer season,
Rooh-afza becomes like a family member in every Indian house. Rooh-afza is easy to make summer drink.
Just pour 1 tbsp of rooh-afza in a glass, fill the glass with water (not up to the
brim). Then add some sugar (if you want to). And last, to make it more delicious.
Squeeze half a lemon into it. For serving, add 2-3 ice cubes as per your requirements
and now you are ready to have chilled rooh-afza summer drink.

2. NIMBU-PANI: Really, if you don’t know how to make a
Nimbu-Pani. Then you are not an Indian. Nimbu-Pani as a name suggests ‘Nimbu’ meaning
a Lime or a Lemon and ‘Pani’ meaning water. So it is basically a lime-water but
in Indian style. It totally refreshing and rejuvenating summer drink cocktail.
Well, Nimbu-Pani is not only summer drink you can try this in winter also. It has a very easy to make the recipe and
can also be served to the guests to walk down the road to your home in the scorching heat of summer.
Recipe of Nimbu-Pani goes like.
Take a glass, squeeze a half lemon into it. Add 2tbsp of sugar and mix well
with water. When the sugar is dissolved fully. As per your wish, you can add
2-3 cubes of ice in it. Enjoy!
3. JALJEERA: Jaljeera is an Indian spicy summer drink. A lemonade gave a favorable
twist by just adding a few spices like black pepper, roasted cumin seeds, and
black salt. It is also used as a good appetizer. You find a jaljeera at any
roadside corner on a stall, where a person standing at a stall with a big clay
earthen pot serving you a chilled jaljeera with boondi.
Or you can make jaljeera at your home also. Buy a small packet of
jaljeera from the market. Tear the wrapper and pour the jaljeera powder into a
glass. After that add some sugar and squeeze a lime juice into the glass. Mix-up
well and enjoy your spicy cool summer drink!
4. LASSI: WOW! Lassi. The traditional SUMMER DRINK OF
INDIA. If you have ever visited India or having a plan to visit India, then
just try yourself to drink a glass lassi or also known as buttermilk. Actually,
Lassi is a more popular drink of Punjab and Haryana side because of the climate
there. Lassi is a well refreshing summer drink made up of yogurt and water.
You can add rooh-afza also to a lassi.
Recipe to make a lassi go like this. Have a cup full of sweet yogurt. Pour it
in a jug, add 5-6 tablespoon of sugar and a 3-4 glass of water. Mix it well with
something you have for mixing. Add 5-6 ice cubes and serve it well and enjoy!
5. THANDAI: Thandai is traditionally served at the festival
of Holi. It is a refreshing health drink to be consumed chilled. It helps in
keeping our body cool in the summers. The concentrate to make this drink is available
in the market place but most of the time it is a bit too harsh to drink because of
the ample spices. The thandai recipe that you find here is milder and
tastier and also as it is prepared fresh- definitely healthier and without
preservatives.
